What are permanent cosmetics?
Fundamentally, Permanent cosmetics are a form of tattooing. The main similarity between Permanent Cosmetics and contemporary tattooing is the underlying process which involves applying pigment to the skin with needles. The skin then heals leaving the pigment residue where you placed it, it is as simple as that.
Permanent Cosmetics are most definitely not the same as a tattoo and the end result is very different. Permanent cosmetics are intended to be natural looking enhancements.
Using the pigment and needle, the pigment is placed into the upper layers of the skin and is specifically designed to fade within time. Some factors that influence the rate of Permanent cosmetics fade are body chemistry, skin cellular turnover rejuvenation etc. Also some anti- ageing products and exposure to sunlight can have an affect.
Looking after your Permanent makeup and keeping on up-to-date with top up treatments will ensure your treatment to last longer and the pigment colour/ retention to remain strong.
What are the different treatments?
There are three main treatments when it comes to Permanent Cosmetics, Eyebrow Hair strokes, Eyeliner Enhancement and Lip Liner Blush.
Eyebrow Hair stroke
Regardless of natural growth of your brow hair and current shape, Permanent Cosmetics can provide you with the perfect brows you have always wanted. I can restore the appearance of realistic looking brows with realistic individual hair strokes.
Hair stroke brows are one of the more requested brow treatments and involve tattooing imitation hair strokes to imitate natural brow hairs. It is one of the most popular treatments overall in Permanent Cosmetics.
Add extra definition to your eyes with a natural enhanced look. Eyeliner Enhancement is a fantastic treatment if you simply want to add definition to your eyes without heavy thick liner look. We Can add a thin natural liner or a more dramatic thicker line adding a flick to make the eyes pop.
Lip liner Blush
Restore the shape, definition and natural colour of your lips or create a more enhanced look. The lip blush includes all the benefits of the lip contour but with the addition of adding youthful flush of colour to the body of the lip. Most clients feel it is worth having this extra touch as it gives the lips an overall fuller, fresher yet natural look.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Permanent makeup is permanent in that you will always have permanent makeup on your skin, however over time you will notice a gradual softening of colour each year. Colour enhancement `top ups’ are recommended for those who want to keep there permanent makeup looking fresh as possible generally every 12-18 months.
Does having permanent makeup hurt?
There is little discomfort expected during the treatment, clients describe as a scratching sensation, saying that some areas are more sensitive than others. At Angels Twelve we use topical anaesthetics creams that are applied to the skin before and during the treatment to keep you comfortable.
The Healing Process
Most clients can immediately return to work and continue with their daily activities following the treatment without discomfort or embarrassment. Some clients may slightly swell after the treatment which usually goes down within an hour or so.
For approximately 5-7 days following the treatment your skin will produce small scabs which will then come away from the skin, leaving the healed pigment colour. All pigment colours will fade 40% once healed from the initial pigment immediately after the treatment.
Healing balm is given to each client to apply during the 7 day healing process.
How long does it take?
Treatment usually takes around 2 hours this includes consultation, paperwork, choosing pigment colour, numbing time, drawing with pencil and the actual treatment. We require a patch test at least 24 hours before the treatment.
